10,000 Napoli fans made the long journey home on Monday night having watched a very disappointing performance from their team against the league leaders at the San Siro.
Napoli’s trademark style of playing three at the back didn’t seem overly clever when the three defenders in question were faced with a front three of Pato, Robinho and Ibrahimović. The invention normally provided by the suspended Ezequiel Lavezzi was also notable by its absence. He remains suspended for this game, and will return next week to face Parma.
No place like home for Napoli |
Brescia are second from bottom in Serie A, four points from safety as things stand. They drew their last two games, but last week allowed Lecce to claw back a two-goal deficit. The northern side are without a win from their last eleven away games, and I don’t expect this trend to change on Sunday. Napoli are unbeaten on home turf since October 25th, and have won eight of their nine home games since then.
Napoli’s title hopes were dealt a cruel blow on Monday, and though they will be anxious to collect all three points as usual at the Stadio San Paolo, scoring chances may be limited in the absence of Lavezzi. The Azzurri went three games without conceding before the Milan game, and they are likely to get the job done without conceding against Brescia on Sunday.
